Beijing February 7th Railway Transportation Equipment Co., Ltd. (hereinafter the "BRE"), founded initially in 1897 and located at the southwestern suburb of Beijing, China's capital city, is a subsidiary of China CNR Corporation Limited. It is a large-scale modern enterprise with a long history.
BRE is mainly engaged in the manufacture and maintenance of diesel locomotives, high-power diesel engine units and parts and components, and the manufacture of large-scale railway maintenance equipment. It currently employs more than 4,000 people, occupies an area of 1,043,000 square meters on which the build-up area of workshops are around 210,000 square meters and possesses more than 3,000 mechanical power equipment of various types. BRE is able to produce annually 200 diesel locomotives, 100 high-power electric locomotives, 60 sets of newly large-scale railway maintenance machinery and to repair 100 diesel locomotives at the same time. BER's signature products include DF7 and CK series diesel locomotives, GK1E series diesel locomotives used for industrial and mining, HX3 7,200 kilowatts AC-Drive locomotives, LZC-800 railroad rehabilitation vehicles and GMC96 rail grinding vehicles, etc..

BRE's Technology Center integrates the function of new products design and technology development. It has adopted the modularized design and flexible production in terms of diesel locomotive products therefore possesses real strength in machining processing, steel structure production, R&D and general assembly of electric appliance control devices.
BRE possesses a great amount of advanced machinery and various kinds of advanced techniques. Its NC plasma cutter, NC bending machines, steel plate prepress line, structure processing center, body processing center, gear grinding machine, and welding manipulator, etc., have been in the advanced domestic or international levels. Meanwhile, it has been the leader in terms of the technologies for outer cover heated swelling, electronic high-pressure CR diesel engine and hydraulic transmission manufacture.
 Prior to 1958, BRE was mainly engaged in repair of steam locomotives and passenger and cargo vehicles. At the end of the 1950s, China's first steam locomotive and first diesel locomotive were successfully tiral-produced by the Company. In 1970, the Beijing-Model diesel locomotive was successfully trial-produced by the Company. Five years later, the Company officially reorganised into a diesel locomotive maker. Dongfeng 7 electric transmission diesel locomotive was put into operation in 1980. Since 1990, BRE has greatly accelerated the re-structure of the product line to meet the demand of the rapid development of the railway market in China, and enhanced its ability to manufacture the products of electric-transmission and hydraulic-transmission modes with three major series diesel locomotives of 6-cylinder, 12-cylinder and 16-cylinder, and other diesel locomotives series based on Meter-gauge Railway, Narrow-gauge Railway, Standard-gauge Railway and Broad-gauge Railway standards, ranging from 1,000 KW to 2,940 KW. BRE also manufactures diesel engine, crank shaft, hydraulic transmission box, bogie, electric control boxes and other diesel locomotive parts and locomotive maintenance and repair test process equipments in mass production.
The BRE's signature diesel locomotives mainly consist of the following models: Dongfeng 7, Dongfeng 7B, Dongfeng 7c Series, Dongfeng 7D Series trunk passenger and freight diesel locomotives, Dongfeng 7E heavy-duty shunting diesel locomotives, Dongfeng 7G high-power shunting diesel locomotives and GK1E andGKD1E locomotives for industry and mining use and CK series locomotives, etc.
   In 2006, through technological innovation on the basis of imported technology, BRE manufactured the HX3 6-axle 7,200 KW AC diesel electric locomotives, which is the major freight locomotive for the 6th speed-lifting campaign of China's railway. These locomotives have been busy running at the trunk railways of Beijing, Shanghai, Wuhan and Xi’an Railway Bureaus.
Through over 30 years of innovative and development, BRE’s diesel locomotive products have been fully acknowledged by the consumers for their stable performance, mature technology and reliable quality. More than 3,000 locomotives manufactured by BRE have served at the nationwide railways under 18 railway bureaus and over 100 large-scale industrial and mining enterprises.
After entering into the 21st century, BRE has actively implemented the strategy of "going global" and internationalization, and entered into the world market with an open stance. The first export of locomotive to Vietnam in July 1, 2003 marked the opening of a new chapter of the company's development. Thereafter BRE's products have been exported to Cube in South America, Congo, Angola ,Nigeria and Sierra Leone in Africa, etc., where the consumers spoke highly of the products in terms of the after-sale service and sound performance.
Since the first export of 12 Model 7G-C diesel locomotives to Cuba in 2005, BRE has exported 112 sets to the country aggregately. With its outstanding performance there, BRE has made positive impacts at the beautiful Caribbean Sea area and the vast Latin American land.
In order to keep along with the new trend of the rapid railway construction and enhancing the modernization of the railway maintenance, BRE, being the first manufacturer introducing the world’s most advanced large-scale railway maintenance equipment in China, entered into agreements of technology transfer and cooperation in relation to LZC-800 railroad rehabilitation Vehicle and GMC96 Rail Grinding Vehicle with Plasser&Theurer of Austria and SPENOof Switzerland respectively in 2007.
Model LZC-800 railroad rehabilitation vehicle is primarily designed for repairing the railway roadbeds. It has the capacity of ballast replacement through the means of recycle and smash to reproduce for the protective materials of roadbed, digging the rest part of ballast and roadbed, paving surface and others, such as putting layers of protective materials.
GMC96 Rail Grinding Vehicle is designed for the restoration of the rail-top to its originally designed shape by demolishing the faults of the railway slide-grinding, rail corrugation and racking.
